To answer your questions real quick.

#1 Yes and No.. subdomains like this (sub.yourdomaindotcom) yes they're treated differently.. Subdomains like this (yourdomain.com/sub/) No!

#2 Websites are not penalized for having both www and no www. Duplicate content only pertains to two pages being exactly identical on two different URLs.

#3 Google's Adsense displays ads based off of contextual information.. the text on your page. The ads are created by advertisers who target keywords. If they want they can target unrelated keywords if they choose.

#4 Google publishes Pagerank to make sure they are controlling the SEO industry. It was a marketing ploy that stuck. It's another reason they are dominating the market.

Those answers are short but I hope they are clear.

Regards,

If I had all the answers, I'd be "God". I don't however.

My beef is this. (and you can check).. during the past 5 years or so, I moved my website lots of times. I had the domain "handcutcoins.com", but at a low point in life, it expired. I didn't even know. I found out it was no longer avaliable (when I went to get it again). Now.. follow what I am saying. It took almost "no time" for the search engines to "delete" the ".com" address I had. But for some reason.. I have then been on many servers, had many websites.. and most I have taken down. Now, do a SEARCH for "HANDCUTCOINS".. you will see lists and lists (on most any search engines) of sites/pages I have created in the past.

I want ALL of those gone. The reason, the pages aren't even up. However in some cases, I told the server to delete my site and it still shows. It's not that my sites were bad (they were good), but if someone types in a search, and gets 100 pages of sites or blogs I created previous, they can't get the current "address or content"..

Are "subdomains" treated by search engines different then "domain names"? (I think that was what your question was). YES,, they are! I do believe (most search engines) give a "domain name" priority. I believe it will be indexed quicker then a subdomain. However I also believe the "sub domains" are not "spydered" as much after. Which means, if the "subdomain" no longer exists... it may show up on searches long after it's gone. Eventually, the sub domains show up as well as domain names. My sites can prove that.. search "Handcutcoins".. see how many come up in "any search" engine. You will see "hundreds" of my sites/pages (I write alot.. lol), still listed. I've even seen some I wrote a decade ago. I have found "0" (ZERO) if my sites still listed when I paid for a domain name.

Just something to think about.. Gary :)

It is a bit big-headed now that you mention it, but personally I have never even noticed [blush]. Maybe I should start paying attention to it since i'm going into web design myself.
