Pixelmator: A Slicker Mac Photoshop

There’s a very promising little app currently being developed by two young brothers which I am really excited about. It’s called Pixelmator, and from the limited information that can be obtained as yet (it’s still not publicly available), it appears to be an OS X-native Photoshop rival, sporting a super slick dark GUI and a slew of Photoshop-esque features.

Supported by the open source libraries of ImageMagick, and a skillfully crafted design, I’m beginning to wonder whether this application will be an inexpensive (perhaps free?) alternative to the resource and dollar-hungry Photoshop CS3.
I, for one, will be faithfully awaiting a public beta.

It won’t be easy to compete with Photoshop. Anyway, good luck!
Not sure what the pricing will be, but that sure looks like one héck of a program! If it’s as fast as Photoshop CS3, and as easy to use as iPhoto/Photoshop CS3, I think this one stands a decent chance to be a biggy… at least I hope so
You can also run The Gimp on MacOSX, I haven’t bothered checking the Gimp out for a number of years but I have to assume it has improved. A black interface is nice, too bad it’s not possible to skin adobe applications to your liking.
The problem i have with Gimp is that it just ‘feels’ wrong. For some reason it just doesn’t feel like a Mac-program to me.
But this Pixelmator here… now thát’s something different
I’ll definately give it a try next to my Adobe CS3 (whatever people say… I love the new features and fast response on an intel Mac, hehe).
Clean looking blog btw
