NAD 7100X Monitor Series AM/FM Stereo Receiver w/Remote Control--Exc. Condition:
$200.00

I\'ve decided to sell my NAD 7100X Monitor Series stereo AM/FM receiver. This is the upgraded 7100 series, which is identified by the \"X\" in the serial number, and is quite rare. It was manufactured in 1993, and is one of the last 7100X\'s made. Everything works perfectly, including the remote control, and it produces great sound!
Ken Rockwell, an expert in Nikon cameras as well as high end stereophonic equipment, said the following about the NAD (New Acoustic Dimension) 7100 in his online review of the NAD 7100:
The NAD 7100 is a great-looking receiver that works as well as it looks. It originally was a relatively inexpensive receiver that used clever design and off-shore manufacturing to extract great sound out of an inexpensive package....The FM tuner has an IF NARROW position to increase selectivity to allow receiving weak stations that are normally covered by stronger local stations....The AM tuner sounds crisper than most others. It has a slightly extended high frequency response. It\'s also reasonably resistant to interference, and very resistant to problems from IBOC HD Radio interference.

The 5-LED signal strength meter works great on both FM and AM. It will read lower than useless meters that usually read full-scale all the time. When it reads 3 out of 5, you\'ve got a good signal. 4 is very good, and 5 is excellent. 2 is OK, 1 is getting weak, and none is weak.

NAD Stereo Receiver Production Timeline:

1990: The 7100 is updated to the 7100X, now rated with 60 WPC [watts per channel] but with only 6 dB IHF headroom (240 W), for $749 list.

1992: The 7100X is $749. The others are gone [models 7000, 7400, and 7600], leaving the 7100X as NAD\'s top receiver.

1993: The 7100X is $749, again as NAD\'s top receiver.

1994: The 7100X is gone, replaced by the 5-channel 716 at the same $749 list. For stereo, the best NAD receiver becomes the 705 at $499, left over from previous years.

Since my NAD 7100X was made in late 1993, it was one of the last 7100X\'s made and was the top of the line NAD at that time. Due to inflation, that $749 receiver would now cost you at 60 WPC continuous, 200 WPC burst into 8Ω, 250 WPC burst power into 4Ω, and 330 WPC burst power into 2Ω.

Size: 4\" X 17\" X 14\" (Height x Width x Depth)

Weight: 24 lbs.

Comes with the original Owner\'s instruction manual, the original NAD Limited Warranty Card, the remote control (works perfectly), and RCA cables. The cosmetic damage to the AM antenna plastic socket noted above, which was there when I bought the receiver, does not affect operation whatsoever.

Shipping will be based on a shipping weight of 28 lbs., and a special stereo receiver box size of 23 x 23 x 7.

This has been a wonderful stereo receiver.

No disappointments!
