This dry dummy load has been designed to provide constant 50 Ωimpedance to a radio transmitter to allow off air tests and experiments.Constructed of high quality PCB material and using 20 x 1KΩ 3Watt Metal Film resistors a SWR of 1.1:1 is possible from 1MHz – 30 MHz, theSWR increases to 2:1 above 50 MHz and higher at VHF & UHF.

Please Note: The resistors if color band coded will use either the 5 color band system, or the older 4 color band system. We may also use carbon film resistors that are coded with the value rather than color bands.
The dummy load is air cooled and capable of absorbing RFenergy of 40-50 Watts continuously for 1 minute, and up to 100 Watts for several seconds.Load incorporates a measuring port consisting of a capacitor(650 V DC rating) and diode (BAV21) with output banana jacks allowing the load to be connected to a voltmeter, and with a simple calculation the outputvoltage is converted to output power.See photos for details on the calculationand connection of test meter.Connection to the dummy load is via a high quality BNC jackmounted on the PCB.The PCB measures (approx.) 2.5” x 3.75” – this size makes theload able to be mounted in a quart paint can filled with non-toxic mineral oilor a wide mouth pint Mason jar similarly filled.
Pleasenote: Neither paint can, Mason jar or mineral oil is included in this sale,only the dummy load.Supplied as a finished PCB with all components mounted on theboard this compact radio accessory is ready to go out of the box.
