I was planning to get a bunch of Seagate Savvio 15k for tier 1 storage - it is not enterprise environment so no need to be super fast, but should have high reliability (7/24) and adequate storage space each drive, then run in RAID 5. But after the flood in Thailand mechanical drives were having crazy prices that never drop, so I had to seek for alternatives. Giving the Intel 320 160GB have a very close price tag as Savvio 15k 146GB, this drive is overall better than the Savvio in every aspect except for write durability and MTBF/usage pattern (Intel 320 is measured using 8 hours per day consumer pattern). This is perfectly what I want because there will not be too much writes, and the PERC H700 RAID controller has sufficient RAM (1GB) to cache write operations (so they will be purged in bulk to minimize write amplification). Intel 320 consumes far less power, generate far less heat, no noise, durable (in terms of hardware, as long as the firmware is not bricked), and has advantage in 4K IOPS. So that's it - if you are looking for an enterprise level HDD for tier 1 storage, consider this consumer level SSD, it may also suit your needs.Read full review
Superb Drive! Fast as can be. I love it!! I purchased this drive because my Intel x25 60 gig just wasn't enough for all my games. So I decided to upgrade both size and performance.
It is so fast you won't believe it! I'm never going back to HDD. SSD is the future. All programs open instantly and my computer boots in 30 seconds. WOW!!! Next stop is getting a bigger SSD since 160GB is a bit too small for me. I highly recommend SSD.
Nice SSD, fast working process,my notebook working more longer. This item cost those money.I use Intel SSD 160G during two mounth without problems
