This is a great product - We switched out a hard drive and rather than go back and forth putting it in and out to retrieve info - we purchased this. You open up the enclosures, connect the hard drive - very simple to plug it in - close it and connect to the computer via USB. TIP - If you are using Windows 7 and can't see all of your files then you will need to right click on the drive in my computer go to properties, security, advanced and take ownership so that you can access them. Another reviewer said that the outer cover is hard to open - that is true but you can use the flat head of a screwdriver to very gently help pry off the cover. We have expensive hard drive enclosure that we do use - we purchased this to get info off a hard drive we upgraded and it worked beautifully and was extremely economical. I do not think this product would stand up to constantly taking drives in and out - but who does that?| It is great to retrieve info off of an old drive and if the drive is still good you can take what you want, erase the rest and have some extra storage..Read full review

This product works great for turning old hard drives into external drives. It's easy to salvage old drives from any laptop and this gives drives years of extra use. Don't get ripped off buying a new pricey external hard drive that costs more than twice as much. Great Product.

So glad I didn't trash my hard drive as I forgot and trashed my 2 1 meg. strips of memory. This product is so easy to use. Just plug in your hard drive put the cover on and plug the USB into your device and presto it works!
