If you own a Dell Ultrasharp or compatible screen, this is an absolute must. At launch price, it really seems too expensive for something that Dell should have included or designed into their screens. After all, any modern day screen should come with speakers, especially when they have HDMI or DisplayPort inputs, which carry an audio stream. But now that these speakers are quite cheap at $7-$8, I actually prefer the accessory type of speakers since it means they would have more output power and in general sound better than embedded screen speakers. These speakers fit perfectly into compatible screens (looks great) and if your screen has a power output for these speakers, it doesn't even need an external power source. Just plug the audio cable and power cable into the screen, and you're good to go. On my Dell U2711, I had to set the audio output to 2 channels (instead of 5.1) in the screen control panel since these guys only support left and right. There is a version which supports surround sound but that AY511 set costs too much for screen soundbars and requires a separate power source. And if you screen doesn't come with a power output for the speakers, you might want to look for the AX510PA; the PA means it comes with the needed power supply. Overall, the sound is decent. it distorts over mid-loud volumes but that's already quite good considering these are smaller (and very affordable) monitor soundbars. It has some low end but you won't be throwing any house parties with it. Does the job great for movies and light gaming though, significantly better than any embedded speakers I've had. It also looks great with a signal dim LED in the front too to tell you it's on. The volume knob is smooth and crackle free so you know this wasn't a cheap product on release. One strange thing is that I have to turn on the computer first before turning on the screen (i.e. screen has to have input signal before you turn it on) or else there isn't sound when I'm fully booted up. I would have to turn off and on the screen again in that case to get sound back. This is with DisplayPort input to the U2711. If you're considering this essential accessory, just do it. It's excellent for the price right now.Read full review

The AX510 speaker bar was extremely easy to install and worked perfectly after attaching the power cable and input cable to the monitor. The bar is attractive and actually quite small on my 30" monitor. It has a solid feel. The cost of under $15 was a bargain. The only complaint I have is that the sound is somewhat tinny, but that's to be expected as the speakers are pretty small. If the sound was more robust, I would have given 5 stars.

The size of the monitor is the first thing you notice. It is great to have this large monitor in a widescreen format. This particular monitor with its built-in webcam and truelife finish makes for a great family computer monitor. Photos, videos, and high definition TV shows are really 3 dimensional because of the 2000:1 contrast and 2msec response time. We normally run it in 1280 x 720 because it has such a high resolution. When we first received it we actually had to turn the brightness down because it literally was so bright at the higher resolutions. Again just another great Dell monitor and for anyone wishing to upgrade this is the perfect one. Only from Ebay could I have purchased one with these features at the price we paid.
These speakers connect to the bottom of your (Dell) monitor, powered by the monitor and work great. No desk space necessary, and provide plenty of sound. Thanks!!!!
