This board is a bit basic and doesn't have any fancy features, but it gets the job done for a standard workstation setup. It was a drop in replacement for my existing HP X79 motherboard, and everything works as expected. I do have some gripes about the design and layout of the board though: The RAM slots are really close to the CPU, which means that the cpu cooler comes really close to the RAM modules. Also, the VRM heatsink is not attached securely to the motherboard and it fell off once when I put the board in an upright position. Other than these two items, I have no complaints!

I was able to get most things working (e5-2670 v1) and for the price its great. Only issues I have are where to get USB 3.0 drivers and figuring out the BIOS fan controls work. Very little documentation comes with the board. Tried to upgrade bios from American Megatrends but does not recognize the rom??

Works great with my xeon e5-1650 v1. ECC ram works great in this board. I was actually able to just swap my OS drive from my old lga 775 motherboard to this without any re-installs. Installed a few drivers and I was up in running in under an hour. I am however taking 1 star off due to the PCI-e x16 retention tabs being unusable. The south bridge heatsink interferes with the top x16 slot so you can't install a card without breaking off the retention tab. The bottom slots retention tab broke off as soon as I tried sliding it. Big heavy cards like my gtx 970 have no problem staying in the slot without the tabs but it's still annoying especially considering this is the latest revision of this board.

If you want to get your hands on a cheap xeon for gaming or rendering work and need a mobo this is pretty much the best/cheapest option. Works perfect. Used with e5 2640. e5 1650 is probably better option with this board for most things. Would buy again.

Setup was very easy. I had this thing up and running in about 5 minutes. BIOS is well-organized. After getting my system fully configured I wound up getting way higher speeds than I could have anticipated. Still works like a charm, and we're four months in.
