I wanted a large tablet that was lightweight, portable, and had beefy enough hardware to do all the things I needed to do. I have never found anything that satisfies my requirements as well as Dell's XPS 18. I do all my eBay posts using mine, and it's set up and permanently plugged in and on in my living room. This will be my FOURTH purchase of an XPS 18, one I gave to my daughter, one was "left" with my ex-wife. Those are the i3's, I have one i5 that I use constantly and I just tragically dropped an HP Slate 17 somehow slide off my kitchen counter and the screen smashed, so I'm replacing it with this. I have no problem with Android, really dug the Slate, but FORGET trying to upgrade from one version of Android to the next newer version, Windows doesn't have that issue. One word of warning, the plastic legs / stand on the XPS WILL BREAK, seems like a small price to pay. Speed / storage space, and portability make this one the best thing since sliced bread in my book, and I've yet to find anything comparable - believe me, I've looked. I network mine, and share it out, use VNC to remote desktop to it from my Samsung tablet. The size makes it easy for this old man to see what I'm doing, can pinch and zoom in on websites or when reading. The wireless has worked flawlessly, I'd have to look to see if this has an ethernet port, somehow, I don't think it does .... consistently given high marks from everyone that owns one, an outstanding product, clearly less cumbersome than even Dell's other All-In-Ones, or any other manufacturers. Buy the metal stand.Read full review

I am at present quite satisfied with this machine I compare it to a thinkpad with almost the same specs The speed, response and touch are comparable. The time to boot up seems a bit slower and took time to get accustomed. The XPS 18 is nice to use after the 12 inch Thinkpad. The larger screen and the ability to lay it flat, take it with you easily room to room etc is a great convenience I have not tested the the battery life but reviews indicate that it is less than claimed.

This review is for a refurbished DELL XPS 1820 AIO INTEL i5-4210U 8GB 1TB 18.4'' FHD TOUCH SCREEN CAM WIN 8.1. The unit I received came with Windows 10 x64 already installed. DESIGN: The design is sleek and well built. It is lightweight for its size with a thin profile. I was concerned about the flip-out “legs” in the back, but they have proven to work well (offers two orientations, one propped up and the other flatter to the surface). PROCESSOR: The Intel i5-4210U delivers all the power needed for watching HD movies and running all office applications without any issues. BATTERY: A 2 HR HD movie playing at full screen with audio at max depletes a fully charged battery by about 30-35 percent. I have had no issues with the unit getting too hot. PORTS: I do wish there was an additional USB 3.0 port, especially now that I have to use a USB dongle for a keyboard and mouse (original BT did not work). An HDMI port would have been nice as well. BLUETOOTH: Shipped with a Dell/Logitech branded Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, which I was never able to get working. The computer’s Bluetooth never identified or paired with either input device (NOTE: the computer did pair with my mobile phone, so I believe the Bluetooth on the computer is working). From what I have read elsewhere, each XPS 18 is supposed to come with a matching keyboard and mouse that pairs automatically with that specific unit. PURCHASE: I purchased this unit as refurbished, and the first unit I received had a deep half-inch scratch in the screen. The store I purchased it from didn’t hesitate to offer an exchange, but failed to inform me that they would pay the return freight for damaged items, which I ended up paying myself and was never reimbursed (UPS ~ US$21.00). It took a solid 3 weeks to get the replacement unit. SUMMARY: I really like this computer/tablet hybrid. I can read documents and browse the web with a bright 18.4” screen, scrolling and typing using only my fingers, and carrying it around is very convenient (although a built-in handle would have been great). I highly recommend this computer, even though it is out of production now.Read full review
