I've always been happy with D-Link products in the past, and they are one of the only router manufacturers that provide competent technical support for mac users, so I thought I'd give this route a shot. The initial DI-624M MIMO router had a technical problem that caused many initial users a lot of frustration. D-Link developed a patch that had to be downloaded to correct the problem. D-Link has corrected the firmware problem with this router, so I shouldn't have to do a firmware update, I decided I would give this MIMO router a shot. My g router was working well, but I got a pretty good deal with a rebate. I thought it was a good opportunity to upgrade. Since this router is pre-N, it will be upgradeable (most likely) to the 802.11n standard when it comes out in 2008. D-Link uses the Atheros chipset in their routers, and Atheros is leading the way on developing the 802.11n standard. So I figure that should improve the chances that this router will support an upgrade. Of course, by 2008, I might have moved on to yet another router. As with my other D-Link product installations, installation and set-up went pretty smoothly. I had to contact customer service, and the rep was fairly knowledgeable. I do like the fact, that their tech support people have a group of mac support people. It makes getting help a lot easier when they understand how to navigate the OS X NETWORK preferences in addition to the D-Link set up pages. The router works fine and I seem to be getting better wi-fi range on my PowerBook. I would highly recommend this router as a good product. If you like D-Link products, you'll be pleased with this router. If you don't like D-Link products, then I don't think there is anything in this router that will probably change your mind.
