The first thing that caught my eye was the name brand...HP (Hewlett Packard). The next thing is the size of monitor, being a 17 inch. The next thing I liked was that the speakers are integrated in the monitor, which meant I could take out the bulky individual items from my desk. At first I was worried about the sound quality, but once I connected the monitor, the speakers were louder than the originals. The fact that the monitor is flat also added more space to my work area. The last great thing about this item is the fact that you can adjust the monitor vertically for glare removal or for placing it where you are comfortable with viewing. The one flaw, if any, was that adjusting the screen was tough at first (since new item), but then got smoother.
I have had this monitor for 7 going on 8 years now. My parents bought it for me in 2007 as a Christmas present, along with the rest of my computer set up. Even though I have changed out my tower I will NEVER replace my monitor. Only within the last year have the speakers gone out [I played my music too loud too often as a kid] but they are easily replaced. The colors of the monitor are perfect for the artwork I do, while other monitors are too rich or saturated, too blue or too red [no matter how much I adjust them]. I am in the process of buying several more of these monitors so I never have to get a different type ever again!
This monitor is amazing, no problems and provides vibrant colors. Great size, fits in so many areas and the flatness doesn't take up space. Highly recommended for anyone willing to upgrade to this w17e. The con is the volume, there is little to none. To the max, it's like a whisper, but your own external speakers makes up for it. Monitor for picture, not volume I suppose. Highly recommended, and very affordable.
Actually, this monitor is a duplicate of what came with my system. I wanted to run dual monitors, snd happened to find one on Ebay for a very reasonable price. When it is time to upgrade to a larger monitor, I will see if I can find a comparible monitor That will be in the new size that I need.
I own 2 17" flat panels (HP's) and they work great, so I decided to upgrade to a wide screen which is working very well, color is great and the control are user friendly, but the resolution is hard to get set to my liking... I might have to upgrade my video card to get what I'm looking for.. overall a nice deal!
