I got this used. Recently got this Sandisk Extreme SSD and a Kingston SSD. Which was both cheap (55$) compared to a newer models (70$).. About 25% cheaper But the read/write on both was around 350/350MB read/write. Compared to 500/500MB read/write 30% slower (-1star) Still a lot faster than HDD's that are 75-150MB read/write! Also faster than 200MB read/write hybrid HDD/SSD's... So still better loading times than buying a HDD.

I got one for my desk top that was refurbished at a fraction of the price of a new one. Refurbished to me means it has been gone over by Sandisk and is probably better than a new one. In transfering information from my old boot disk which was a 120gb ssd3 I was getting speeds of over 6gb per sec showing in the task manager. I also turned off allow files on this drive to have contents indexed. Defrag now was set to never and prefetch and superfetch were also turned off. These all shorten the life of an ssd and add little to an ssd speed. They are for a hard disk. My startup times are very fast once I get past my bios. My bios takes longer than the actual startup when the ssd takes over. I also put a 120gb Sandisk Extreme in my laptop. It's like a new computer. It runs longer on battery ,it's cooler and a hell of a lot faster.Read full review
Bought to replace my Hitachi 500GB 5400 rpm HDD in my 7 year old Gateway. I knew I would have less space but I move most large files, pictures and videos to my 4TB MyCloud so I didn't mind. Boot times are almost a blink of an eye now. Very happy with drive.

Does exactly what I needed to do. Be fast and able to handle being the OS drive. Very reliable. I've had a few of these drives in a few systems for years, and they are still reliable and strong.

I purchased this to use it as a boot drive for my PC. The WE experience went from 6.6 to 7.8. The boot times are so fast that W7 does not even have enough time to complete the colorful logo. Scandisk has been making SSD drives for enterprise servers before selling them to end users, so they have experience in making a good reliable SSD drive. If you are looking for a good SSD, then this is the one to get.
