This was just what I needed to upgrade an older computer, which, was running on an IDE type hard drive. Not only did it give me much more capacity, but certainly runs much faster than the old IDE drive. So far, I've found best result is to use this on a motherboard that only supports SATA1 (won't be much good for anything else really anyways). Actually running it in combination with IDE drive. I'm now dual booting from this 250GB WD SATA drive and using the IDE for swap file use. I highly recommend this to anyone who has a motherboard with SATA1 ports. Great add on or upgrade, especially for the price! May be a good way to make an older system up and running again to use as an extra, have as a backup, use for gaming.. maybe even to sell a full complete system.
It's a refurb so no telling how long it's good for but am using it for initial builds with win 7 for dual boot systems. Works well.
This is a fast new hard drive with massive data, music, and photo storage along with any OS. I have owned several WD hard drives and this one is great so far. This hard drive could be the best deal I ever got on ebay.
I already knew of Western Digitals good reputation for their hard drives and needed more space for my AutoCAD drawings. The ease of the SATA connections made it so much better. The hard drive is fast and quiet.
Bought this drive for very cheap to install in a budget build for a family memeber for a Christmas present. I partitioned it to dual boot Windows and Linux Mint and so far it has been extremely reliable so and I would recommend it to anyone looking for more storage space who doen't want to spend 100+ dollars on the larger drives. One of the Oldies but Goodies still with great RPM and SATA connectivity.
