First and foremost, the ViewSonic VA1912wb is a solid buy for the money. It can often be purchased new for under $200 which (as of the time of writing of this review - April 2007) isn't to bad for a 19" widescreen LCD. The brightness and viewing angle are very good, and the colors (especially when calibrated with something like the Spyder2) are vibrant. It comes with a pair of speakers at the bottom. Not only are these speakers terrible, but they add an extra inch or so to the bottom of the display. This is the only real negative I've found in the 5 months that I've used this monitor as a secondary screen. I am very impressed with the picture quality though I don't use it for games or hooking up with TV. But the following are my observations after a month of purchase. 1. Not all video/graphics cards support 1440x900 screen resolution. In my case, I had to buy a new AMD 256MB AGP card to make it look sharp everything looks blotted. So this is an extra expense to keep in mind before purchasing this monitor. 2. A blue dialogue box keeps popping up at the time of booting the computer. It says "Analogue" and I couldn't investigate further as to what is causing that. 3. Monitor height can not be adjusted as it is fixed but very little inclination is supported to bend the monitor up or down. 4. I am not sure if this is a problem with the monitor but whenever I connect my laptop to the monitor, everything looks blurred not as sharp as it is when it is connected to the main computer. Except these observations, I am really happy with it and love to sit in front of computer.Read full review
This is the second Viewsonic VA1912 that I have purchased. My main purpose for this monitor was to have the monitors matching when placed side by side when viewing multiple screens. It has good performance and works both in digital and analog mode. The clarity is good and there is a good viewing picture. For the cost this is a very good monitor. You will not be disappointed if you get one.
I really love the graphics. To be honest, I am not a gamer, but i do extensive research on the internet and alot of powerpoints. This screen compared to the 15in I had before is really worth the price. The stand is a little weak but OK. There is a cover on the back that hides the cables but designers did not allow for "fat plugs" as they are both difficult to screw in and nearlt impossible to cover with the backplate, but on a desk, nobody can see anyway. Graphics and durability are key and this unit has both!!
