My old router didn't offer a way to block certain websites from specific devices. I have three young children and with all the garbage on the web my wife and I needed to be able to block certain websites from their and even our access. Some things just don't need to be seen.... This router offers. like many out there today, offers a means to block those sites right at the access point (AP) in our home. We have a smart TV which the children watch, and since YouTube seems to allow all manner garbage nowadays, seemingly in the 'educational' category that includes outright porn and other such things, we needed to block the TV from web access. Also, the children have Kindle tablets with pretty good parental controls, yet we still need to block certain sites or features. Seems some apps were allowing them to access YouTube and other sites inside the apps. Somehow evading the block from the router. One thing to remember in setting the router up: You need to use the devices MAC Address and not it's IP if you have the router setup to use dynamic host protocol. The DHPC will assign the IP's at random each time the device is turned on. So use it's mac address to apply the filters each time. All in all, I like this router, it conforms to the wireless ac protocols and is backwards compatible with B. G and N. It also offers a USB 2 and 3 compatible port for cloud routing to share your media in your home. At the current prices, I got mine for under $30, it's a great value and a cheap upgrade. These went for about $180 when they were new just a couple years back.Read full review

I needed an upgrade that would handle the usage for my home network and this router came with high reviews and referrals. My problem is that the high end speed requires either upgrade the network cards in the laptops (that have no supportive network cards) or purchase a usb network stick that is almost as much as the router itself but yet still doesn't work with the 5G signal rendering it as useless as the 5g signal being sent from the router. So keep in mind when purchasing things like this, to make sure your gadgets can receive the 5g signal along with the 2.4g signal. If you have nothing that is using the 5g signal then this is not the right router for you.

Nice router at a great price. Was easy to set up as a wireless access point and connect. This added more range and much higher upload and download speed compared to the Verizon provided modem and router. This unit was obviously used with some scratches but nothing substantial, and was sold as refurbushed.

This router doubled the speed of my old router over Wi-Fi i get full speed of my cable provider which is 60megs and it also holds this speed steady at the far side of my house. i always use D-link and they never let me down so far.

Long have I preferred the D-Link brand routers. Once dual band Wi-Fi devices were sold I knew I had to have a new D-Link dual band router. I received this router just 4 days from ordering and I had it up and running in minutes. Almost immediately I noticed faster ethernet speeds on my desktop computer and much improved Wi-Fi signal on my LG smart phone. With many modern devices utilizing the 802.11ac frequencies I don't see how any home network, with multiple wireless devices in operation, can function without one of these new dual band routers. I never let cable companies sell me their router, or rent it to me, I insist on using my own router for my wireless network. Cable companies will attempt to charge you an additional fee to set up their rented router/modem. And often they will install a router/modem in your home that has a lockout feature disabling the customer from attaching his own personal router. Insist that the lockout be removed and you be able to install your own router. Why let cable companies control your wireless network? Take control of it on your own, and consider D-Link, the best name in home networking. I got mine!Read full review
