Love the LED night vision camera - nice quality screen too
I saw another review that said the product sent is different from what's pictured here. I guess this problem has been resolved because I got the exact kit as pictured. The screen is compact and the picture is quite nice. It degrades a little with extreme viewing angles, but this is meant for use in a car, not as a home theater, so I'm not all that worried about it. The picture quality is nice, the colors look good, and I like all the function buttons, which worked as expected and have a good tactile feel. The screen comes with a remote and it feels a bit weird to use it in the car, but is very handy none the less. I had this professionally installed, but all the pieces are here to do it yourself if you're the handy type. The backup camera itself is really cool because of how small and compact it is. Its basically about the size of a cube of billiards chalk, and best of all, it has 4 night vision LEDs, which is rather unusual for a backup camera. Most just have very low LUX capability. I really love the added night vision capabilities. I'm not sure why the cams I've had in the past have omitted this, but it is indeed helpful and makes a difference. I really love the compact size and the fact that the cam didn't require drilling into the body of my car to install. The installer just used screw mounts on an unobtrusive area near my license plate, so I was happy with that. The camera kicks in automatically when I put the car in reverse, and the screen works in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. It's also worth mentioning that the camera has distance measurements to judge the proximity of objects while backing up. No, it's not exactly accurate to the inch or anything, however, it does negate the need for a backup proximity sensor. The anti-fog CCD is a bonus too, because I have had other cams that fogged up constantly just with the morning dew. Mounting the screen can be problematic, hence why I wanted a professional install. I do not recommend mounting it on a dashboard with just the double-stick tape because it tends not to stick well over a day's sunshine and heat. Also, the screen will go flying if you hit the brakes hard, or even worse, get into an accident. I had mine mounted with screws for a secure fit.
