I switched from consumer grade computers that I purchased at places like Office Depot as these seemed to give me troubles after a couple of years. I looked for a more robust solution and ran across these Z201’s. I cautiously purchased a couple and was very happy right away. I could change out hard drives and peripheral cards in seconds without a screwdriver as the side panel comes off with a large, quick-release lever. The hard drives are held in place in a caddy that easily slide out. It took me some time to understand the on-board raid system but not that I have, I am converting all of my workstations to a mirrored raid configuration. I have 13 of these now, 12 in active service and one that I use to experiment with different configurations. For example, I can set up the spare with a mirrored raid system and Windows 10, then take out the secondary hard drive, put it in one of my other Z210’s as the primary with a blank hard drive for the new secondary drive, change the Windows key and be up and running within minutes and let Windows restore the raid. It helps to have Intel Rapid Storage Technology software to help monitor the raid and hard drive status. You will also want to use HP Support Assistant to help with BIOS upgrades for these older computers. So far none of these has failed as they seem to be built to last. When it is time, I plan to replace these Z210’s with Z230’s but not for now.Read full review
