When I had to move my stereo system to a smaller room, I found that my 3-way floor-standing speakers not only were visually and physically too large for that room, they also no longer sounded good- bass response was boomy and imaging was awful, no matter how I placed them. A serious audiophile friend suggested I get a pair of two-way monitors. He felt they would work much better. He was right. I've always loved Italian design and craftsmanship, so when the opportunity arose to purchase a pair of Sonus Faber Liuto monitors, I grabbed 'em and never looked back. In my room they produce an honest 55hz. They disappear sonically- imaging is terrific- the music is just "there" and never seems to be coming out of a box. The speakers are voiced slightly towards warm and romantic- which my wife and I both love, although they can rock and roll, as well. The Liutos were crafted in Italy, not China, if that makes a difference to anyone.Read full review

I've owned about a dozen speakers, including some more expensive, and so far the Liutos are my favorite. There are flashier monitors that will deliver more punch both up top and down below, but for me at least listening fatigue sets in after a short while. The Liutos even it all out. I can listen all night and not get fatigued. These are best with jazz, chamber orchestra, choral, etc., though they do pretty well with a lot of rock. If you're looking for that "boom car" feel in your living room. Look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a soulful midrange, these are great choices.

They sound fantastic .Just enough bass , not over powering . I bought them used with the stands .Outstanding sound for a such a small speaker.
