Maxtor uses a proprietary process to engineer, build and test a select group of drives that achieve enterprise-class MTTF of greater than one million hours. MaXLine Plus II drives are ideal for demanding, full-time enterprise applications where cost per GB and storage density are critical parameters. They offer 7200 RPM spin speeds, capacities to 250GB, <9.1 ms average seek time, a choice of Maxtor-developed Ultra ATA/133 or serial ATA interfaces, and a 2MB buffer.MaXLine Plus II drives are a better choice for many applications that have historically utilized tape, optical media, SCSI or Fiber Channel drives. MaXLine Plus II drives are already proven as the heart of network attached storage systems from major original equipment manufacturers. The MaXLine Plus II drive offers storage capacity, data access times and data transfer rates significantly better than any tape or optical system on the market today. The 3.5-inch drives are also easy to integrate into existing storage systems, with complementary hardware controller and software solutions in place that emulate tape-based near-line libraries.

Fixed broken external drive
This hard drive cost $350 a few years ago (Maxtor one touch). It died under warranty and they sent me a new one. Got this used drive to repair it for $30. Now I have 2 working 250gig external drives. Nice. Some guy posted install instructions which made it easy to swap the drive. Just make sure you get the right model. I first ordered the wrong one because it had the same name. Has to be an exact match. 7Y250MO.

Great Deal
This is an excellent value. I purchase one for a client with a bad hard drive. It was manufactured in 2005, but was smooth and quiet. It was already formatted NTFS and I partitioned and re-loaded the clients OS. The drive has been functioning perfectly now for a month with no hickups. The age of the drive is really not a big deal as this is an Enterprise Class drive manufactured for servers and high end workstations. I expect it to out last the usefulness of the computer it is installed in.

Excelent size and speed. For the price, there is nothing better. I would recommend the Seagate MaXLine Plus II 250 GB to anyone who wants more Hard Drive space, and is on a budget.

Seagate 250gb hard drive
I bought this item so I could have a 2nd hard drive to back up my desktop pc. The first one I was sent, windows told me that it had something like 21,000 sector problems on it. I sent it back and got another one. The second one worked great for about 3 months. I used it to backup my 750gb hard drive. the 3rd time windows backed up to it I started getting a message that my drive was reporting problems and that I needed to back it up befor it crashed. So I took it out and put it on the shelf. It was a waist of money. I bought one now from seagate.

Sata hard drive
The hard drive I bought on an e-bay auction came perefectlyworking and has been reliable ever since it's installlation which was on the day I recieved it. In fact these words are written thru this hard drive as it is my primary ops drive. I prefer this brand name as they have been reliable for me throughout my pc experiences.
