I say "appears" because I haven't given the drive definitive testing yet. In doing a clone of my 500GB Seagate Slim data drive using Acronis 2015 True Image the program stopped before the process was completed, filling up less than half the drive. Then I could not make it appear on windows explorer (XP) at all, even after putting it thru its paces using MiniTool Partition Wizard which set the drive to 'active' and gave it a new drive letter. I'm guessing infant mortality; I can't imagine many such drives failing so quickly. Fortunnately these things are so cheap (~$50) that I just bough another drive, a 1 TB Seagate which is working fine. WD has a good reputation overall from what I read so I suppose I was just unlucky. But I now run 3 USB hard drives, all of them Seagates.

Pretty much a noob when it comes to computers, but after a recent memory card failure and the possibility of a hard drive crash, my computer doc saved all my files and recommended I get an external hard drive to back up my files just in case. Among the different brands he recommended, Western Digital was one of his top choices. After finding a great deal, here on Ebay, I pulled the trigger on this purchase and couldn't be more pleased. It is portable, easy to set up and works quietly in the background keeping all my data safe from crashes. I would recommend anyone who has a computer that doesn't already have a back up, to look into getting one, ASAP! Especially if you have "stuff" on there that you REALLY want to keep!
I needed a separate hard drive to store my pictures and files of my maintenance records of my wife's rent houses. This usb hard drive is just the right thing to store data and not tie up space on my home computer. It can be moved to other computers as needed. The hard drive is really fast and easy to use with the software that can with it. I highly recommend it. I have been using Western Digital products for a long time any have no complaints.
I bought the WD My Passport so that I could easily backup my desktop PC. I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to system programs or issues. I used to do my backup on a 16gb flash drive but always had to delete previous backups and choose what not to backup because of space. So, I wanted something with a lot of space that would be as easy to use as a flash drive. I admit I knew nothing about using an external hard drive (and still know very little). But decide to give it a try. I am not disappointed. This is as easy as it gets, plug and backup.
