If the specification is what interests you, then here it is.. promising a maximum read performance of up to 230MB per second and write speeds of up to 135MB per second (unless you're talking about sustained write speeds which top out at 70MB per second). With a mean time before failure that runs to over a million hours, you'd like to think the Vertex won't be giving up the ghost inside your system any time soon either. Underneath this outer shell, the Vertex's PCB contains a single 64MB chip for the drive's cache, and a handful of MLC (multi-level cell) Samsung NAND flash memory chips which make up the 60GB of storage offered by our sample. All of this is handled by Indilinx's "Barefoot" IDX110 controller chip, which uses an ARM controller to handle data between the Serial ATA interface and the flash chips upon the device itself. This particular controller is designed with enough bandwidth to maximise write speeds, particularly for small writes, while the controller's firmware is custom designed by OCZ themselves, and in its 1.5 revision. TRIM is fully supported under Windows 7 alongside garbage collection routines to ensure that drive performance remains optimal no matter how much usage and punishment the drive goes through.Read full review
Another winner from OCZ. A quick benchmark (using CrystalMark - free)shows anyone why the SSD is superior to the "standard" hard drive - all in the IOPs! Also, I find the 60GB model to be large enough for the usual desktop install of today. Just try one of these and you will not go back to your old ways.....
This SSD was purchased for the replacement of the original hard drive in a netbook. I use in my work OCZ products. It is reliable and inexpensive
fast boot up time on my operating system, great for my programs. really fast access time, overall great product by ocz
Not the fastest ssd money can buy, but a noticable speed difference from a standard hdd. Can't wait until these get cheaper.
