The switch works as advertised. Apparently, some devices don't supply the power needed for the switch to work. My DVD player would not work through the switch, but my FIOS connection and my ancient VCR player did. So I had to run the DVD player directly into one of the TV HDMI ports, and the FIOS and VCR inputs through the switch into the second TV HDMI port. I can access all three devices with this arrangement. I don't think I can make use of the intelligent switching aspect of this switch because of this. You may want to get a self-powered switch if you think you may have this issue. My goal was to be able to use my VCR, and this switch was a good economical solution for me.

If you're trying to get a full 1080P or 4K picture that's just not going to happen. You definitely lose picture quality but if you have an older 1080 TV that only has one or two HDMI ports and you need to expand it will work fine just don't expect to get a full 1080p picture quality or in my case a 4K quality even though on the box it cleans both. I have 4 HDMI ports but I have a lot of technology so I need it 7 but I'm plugged it and put it up because the picture quality dropped off too much for me.
