These reject noise around you and give you a pretty accurate (flat) signal (not enhanced or bass boosted). They're durable and loud as hell. Great for tracking guitar, bass, keyboards. They don't reject enough room sound to use for loud drum tracking. Turning them up super loud works if you don't have any mellow sections. Otherwise, click-tracks & guitars will bleed into your mics. I even use them for rough mixes if need be.

The shape does not permit total isolation. Flimsy construction. Awkward construction of the storage case. Though good sound coming from the headset. They leaked. I have been wearing headphones for 44 years. If you want them for listening fine. If you need them for recording think twice. I have my pair away.

For studio recording and mixdowns, the best there is. Way wide freq range and flat eq like studio cans are supposed to be. As far as the reviewers that note the bass end being weak, please be aware that these are PRO headphones, and for recording and mixdowns, you need high definition audio without coloration from heavily accentuated bass. Best spend your bucks on some consumer grade 'phones, or turn the bass up on your source. These are going for killer deal prices on eBay, so get em while you can.

I bought these headphones to listen to music and mix my own band's tracks. They do have a good bit of mid range but I actually appreciate that. These are full spectrum headphones and are excellent for general music listening or mixing. Although they provide ample noise isolation, I would not suggest them for monitor headphones in a loud band setting. They would be fine for lower volume situations such as an acoustic set or overdubbing vocals. However I found that standing next to our drummer did not adequately isolate everything. So for those situations, I still use my in ear monitors. Awesome headphones, best bang for the buck. I own the 280's and these are much more comfortable and sound "brighter" with that clearer midrange coverage.

The sounds sound natural and not unnecessarily amplified. While listening to my older ambient tracks I even discovered some new sounds. The headset sits comfortably on the head throughout the whole work day, most of the time I don’t even notice it. The build quality looks rigid, but the construction itself is pretty light, so it should easily take some mild punishment. Detachable single cord is fool proof and should something happen to it, you can always order another one. For a guy with daily needs like mine, these closed type headphones is the perfect choice and the price won't explode your wallet.
