This is a restoration service onlyfor your 7000, 3000, 2000 or 1000 radio. It is a total restoration and notjust a service (which partial replaces somecapacitors that fail.) I have been working onall for models of theZenith TransOceanics for over 20 years and get a great deal of satisfaction making these radios play like new for another 40 years or more.Over the 20 years, I have probably worked on 500 of these radios. If your radio is clean and AM or FM is playing at all, there is a 95% chance an electronicrestoration willbringyour radio backto it's original playing condition.I also have been able to fully restore most radios in very sad condition as well. I consider it a success if the radio's FM/AM and most or allof the shortwave isloud and clear. If I cannot achievethis, you get your money back less shipping and fees.
Normal turn around time is about a week or less.
The electronic restoration includes the following:
1. Replace all electrolytic capacitors and any wax caps with higher voltage rated replacements.
2. Replace any bad transistor or resistor. Replacement of one transistor is free. It is very rare if more than one is bad. I only use original transistors from parts radiossince the new replacementtransistors do not work well.
3. Clean all pots and moving parts and lubricate.
4. Pull and clean all transistor sockets.
5. Check out the lights and replace as necessary.
6. Align each band according to specifications in the Service Manual.
7. Reassemble and bench check the radio with batteries and power adapter for 3 hours minimum.
8.One yearwarranty. After it is shipped and playing at your doorstep, they almostnever come back to me.
There are a few things that a 40 year old radio may or may not be fixed. The light switch turns on the lights with a D-cell battery in the back. The switch is rarely used and therefore may not work after cleaning and working it. Most do but a few don't. Sometime the signal meters will not work even if I replace it. The Bandswitch switch for Normal and Sharp has been in the normal spot for years and it is possible the sharp side does not work that well due to no use no matter how much cleaning.
These are some things that sometimes I can't fix but getting these radios to play like they were new, I can.
Having said all this, most radios have all these switches and meters working.
The radio will beshipped back to you by USPS Priority which only takes 2-3 days. This is less handling and so far allbut onecustomer'sradios have shipped without incident. I always insure the radio.

Also for 20 years, I have restored tube Zenith Transoceanic's, Pioneer receivers and other tube radios.
Once you buy the service, email me for my address to send the radio. Thanks for looking.
I stopped the restoration of the 1979-1982 R-7000 series due to the fragile circuit boards. You can inquire about this service if your radio plays on FM, AM and some shortwave or just has the power switch problem. If your radio works on AM/FM and most Shortwave, just buy this service and send me a check for another $40 and I will restore it.A
Also, I do restore the tube Zenith TransOceanics. Again you can just buy this service and send me a check for $20. This includes all tubes but the 50A1 and 1L6 which are a bit expensive.
