Setup Instructions
After installing Sharpfolio (WordPress 2.5+ is highly recommended), you must go to the Settings page of your WordPress Dashboard, then the Miscellaneous panel. Set the Medium Size to 500px wide and 800px high. This will ensure that the images you post appear nicely in your portfolio.
How to post in Sharpfolio
It’s a little different to posting in a normal blog. I seriously recommend reading these instructions on how to post projects in your portfolio.

Just a quick note, I’ve updated the theme to fix the “ugly serif text” bug. Enjoy!
The portfolio CMS idea isn’t too tough. Without comments it should be rather easy. Create ‘posts’ under different categories then display them. Thats it, the user then designs the design. Comments make things a little more difficult of course. Other bits like contact info are also easy, just hold it in the database.
And thats my 2 cents on the idea (I thought it was a good idea),

I actually had a pretty big portion of the foundations of the system done (down to a Google Maps integration, which placed pins at each designer’s location). I’m by no means a good enough PHP coder to continue the project (design is the name of my game).

Much better! My only worry now is the size of the post-date text, and how dark it is. You’ve gotta kinda look out for that when you’re reading the site.

I didn’t really think there should be much emphasis on the actual date of the portfolio images. I may have a think about increasing it, but I’m not really sure if it’s completely necessary.
Interesting idea, perhaps ought to do something similar with textpattern.
Hi Matt. Thanks for this simple and slick theme! I’ve seen my share of minimalist-themes with Wordpress, but none of them do what this one does
There’s a little question I have about making a new page though if that’s ok;
At the moment I have 3 pages: Recent works, About, and a contact page (nice tip btw). But what if I wanted to make one extra page that acts the same as ‘Recent works’? Basically what I mean is having 2 blogpages; one with my recent work, and one that acts as my blog. Could you tell us how to pull that off please?

i think its a very important section thats missing..
cpouple of tings that i think could make this a perfect template for any portfolio are:
ability to create duplicated pages that act the same as the main blog… so you can split your portfolio into sections.. ie 3d/ graphics/ web etc etc

The demo don’t seem to work anymore
the demo is broken.
Aug 6 2007 and the demo is still not working. I am looking for something for my photo site [http://balkophoto.com] that will not only accomodate regular image portfolios, but also the free WP Header Images I have just completed. I plan on offering the images free for use in WP or any open source CMS - and there the thumbs are 400px and full-sized is 1000px.
There are a couple of sites around the web that are running this theme or variations there-of (in lieu of the non-working demo):

Has anyone tried to get a lightbox effect working with this theme (where images pop forward when clicked and the background greys out)? If so, would you mind passing on the plug-in source?

I got lightbox working by adding a script to the header.php file. I found the script on the wp.org forums. Don’t have it handy right now.
I am, however, having trouble getting it to work with safari. I changed a couple of colors and other settings in the stylesheet and now its a mess.
Well, i seem to have fixed my safari issues. I’m sold that i still have IE6 issues though with the footer line crossing through one of my links.
Can’t wait for the new version!
hey folks - i got lightbox working. it seems the header.php file is missing ths line of code:
you need to put it right before the tag and then it should work.

I’m having two issues:
1. When inserting the image into the post, it won’t force the image to the 500 pixel width. I have to do it manually.
2. The ‘description’ custom tag won’t take. I enter the info, it shows up, but after saving the post, it doesn’t appear in the control panel or in the post.
Great theme, it’s minimal enough to work well. Would be nice to have thumbnails in the archives, quite a useful feature for photographers. Would this be a large task?

I dont think date should be a big thing. A portfolio should never be dated. Thats why this is a portfolio not a blog. I am in the process of downloading this and testing it out. But i hate ignorant people that come here to leech and say something of no merit

Great theme! It’s simple and exactly what I was looking for. The archives page was a little iffy, but I just edited it to do the same as the main index template to keep it minimal. Works perfect now.

Is it easy enough to customize? i would like to be able to have dates on posts and also maybe at the top or side the ability to choose a category and have it show all posts.
Trying to use it kind of like a gallery if that makes sense.

Hi Matt, first of all thanks a lot for this theme.
I want to use it as my personal portfolio, but I have a problem.
When I navigate by Category my post doesn’t look well.
Here is the 2 images, the first is the home of wordpress, and the 2nd is surfing by category: (you can see it in the url bar)
